RES 1994-01TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS RESOLUTION NO. 94-n1 A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS ENDORSING AND APPROVING THE INITIATION OF A PETITION REQUESTING THE EXPANSION OF TWO-WAY TOLL-FREE LOCAL CALLING BETWEEN THE ROANOKE EXCHANGE (THE PETITIONING EXCHANGE) AND THE DENTON, PONDER, RHOME, JUSTIN, ARGYLE AND BARTONVILLE EXCHANGES (THE PETITIONED EXCHANGES); PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Town of Trophy Club, Texas (the "Town") receives local telephone service from Southwestern Bell Company, and is located within the Roanoke Zone or Exchange; and WHEREAS, in 1994 the Texas Legislature adopted Senate Bill 632, which permits the expansion of toll-free calling areas between nearby telephone exchanges; and WHEREAS, toll-free calling areas may be expanded pursuant to S.B. 632 provided a petition signed by the lesser of five percent (5%) of the subscribers or 100 subscribers is first submitted to the Texas Public Utility Commission (the "Commission"); and WHEREAS, the regulations adopted by the Commission provide that, in addition to the petition, the governing body of a political subdivision may enact a resolution endorsing and adopting the petition, which resolution must state that the governing body represents an area within the exchange requesting expanded toll- free local calling; and WHEREAS, the Town Council desires to secure for the Town expansion of the Town's toll-free calling area and supports the signing and filing with the Commission of a petition requesting such expansion. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS: Section 1. The above and foregoing premises are true and correct and are incorporated herein in their entirety. Section 2. The Town Council hereby endorses and approves the initiation of a petition pursuant to Senate Bill 632 adopted by the 73rd Texas Legislature to expand the Town's toll-free calling area, and in accordance therewith states as follows: A. The Town is located within the Roanoke Exchange; B. The Town Council properly represents an area within the Roanoke Exchange; -1- C. The Town Council desires that toll-free calling be expanded from the Roanoke Exchange (as the petitioning exchange) to the Denton, Ponder, Rhome, Justin, Argyle and Bartonville Exchanges (the petitioned exchanges). D. Each of the petitioned exchanges are either contiguous to or lie within 22 miles of the Roanoke Exchange. Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its date of passage.
