A PROCLAMATION OF THE TROPHY CLUB TOWN COUNCIL SUPPORTING THE
MONTH OF MARCH AS TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY AWARENESS MONTH IN
TROPHY CLUB.
WHEREAS, Every year, an average of 144,000 Texans are affected by TBIs, which are
often caused by falls, impacts to the head, concussion, stroke, heart attack, or another
penetrating injury to the head that temporarily or permanently disrupts the normal functions
of the brain; and
WHEREAS, The seriousness of Traumatic and Acquired Brain Injury is extremely
far-ranging, and the impact they cause can be devastating. These injuries often lead to
significant mental health concerns, including post -traumatic stress disorder, depression,
anxiety, chronic pain, thoughts of suicide, communication problems, vision problems,
abandonment, isolation, anosmia, and much more; and
WHEREAS, Survivors and their caregivers are left alone to try and navigate the
long-term effects of this disability; and
WHEREAS, Texas offers quality support systems and services to those impacted
by or recovering from a TBI, including TBI One Love, who provides Education, Inspiration,
and Connection through information, encouraging Survivor stories, and those touched by
Brain Injury Creating Awareness, Support, and Prevention; and
WHEREAS, An awareness campaign is conducted during the month of March to
inform the public about the effects of TBIs, promote research on prevention and treatment,
and provide support to patients, caregivers, and families across the state who are affected
by brain injuries; and
WHEREAS, This proclamation will help more continue to learn about brain injury
awareness, prevention, invisible disability and to extend support for individuals that have
been touched by a Brain Injury. Together, we will continue to create better outcomes and
brighter futures for everyone, everywhere, all the time.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Alicia L. Fleury, Mayor of the Town of Trophy Club, and in
conjunction with the Town Council do hereby proclaim March 2023 as:
TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY AWARENESS MONTH
