Samuel Adams 4/21/98 4:45 P TO: The Town Council of Trophy Club RE: Proposed Bicycle Lane on Indian Creek and Trophy Club drives. WHEN the town of Trophy Club was designed, it included two main arteries: Trophy Club Drive and Indian Creek Drive which would effectively handle the flow of traffic in and out of the neighborhood.. Hundreds of thousands of dollars have since been spent on upgrading these two-lane roads due to safety concerns and increased traffic flow over the past few years — all of which the tax -paying residents have paid for. Monthly Council letters have consistently boasted with pride about the increase of new homes, new sub- divisions and new families moving to Trophy Club. This in turn means more cars, trucks, motor cycles, delivery and service vehicles and general traffic using our roads, especially those same main arteries. How is it then possible to eliminate an entire lane on both of these roads without causing traffic congestion, possible back-ups and frustration, thus increasing the possible dangerous travelling conditions that undoubtedly go hand in hand? How can it be feasible to narrow roads when there's an increase in traffic flow? Surely a decision of this proportion, one which would effect the majority of tax -paying residents living in Trophy Club, should be made by those same residents. Although I do not reside on either Indian Creek or Trophy Club drives, I do believe that as a tax payer I should have the right to decide on major decisions which would either involve my tax dollars or affect the neighborhood I live in. Could the Town Council (elected by these same tax -paying residents) not put forward a detailed proposal to each and every resident living in Trophy Club. A proposal that lists ALL the pro's and cons, the "fors" and concerns and then let the people vote for the changes they want. This should help make the Council's decision on the matter a simple one: the majority vote wins — after all, is that ngLmlat `democracy' is all about? 7_WooW nd; Trophy Club TX 76262 Subject: Re: Internet Message Date: Mon, 2OApr 188822:OO:54-O5OO From: "JOHN GRUNTHAN}ER"<J(lHNGRUNTHANER@PRO0GYNET> To: <D8Sbitt@svvbeU.Oet^ Mayor Carter and the Trophy Club Town Council Members, ! would like totake this opportunity b]express rDyopposition tOthe proposed Bike and Jogging lanes for Trophy Club Drive and Indian Creek Drive. |dOnot support the spending OfOUR tax dollars onthis pproject. | do not feel this would make a safer 8nvi[0008Ot for walkers, joggers, . bike[g or skaters. In f8[t, from my 0bSen/8ti003 of the increase in both volume and speed Ofthe traffic along Trophy Club Drive iOthe west end oftown, | feel this could CFeGt8 8 very dangerous situation. Sidewalks were put in last year from the baseball fields toLakeview Elementary School. These are rarely used - they are ALWAYS covered with dirt and mud. There has only been one time when they were cleared, and that did not last long -since there isOograss growing around them, especially along Trophy Lake Drive. The dirt that washes over these sidewalks isstill oOthe street -hhas never been cleaned upsince construction ofthese eyesores. | think OUR money would bemuch better spent inimproving the street light situation on the west side Oftown, and enforcing the speed limit.
