The Parks & Recreation Board of the Town of Trophy Club, Texas, met in a Regular
Session on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held within the
boundaries of the Town and was open to the public.

Call to order and announce a quorum.
Chairman Lentzner called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. noting a quorum was
present.
Citizen Presentation
Welcomed new Board Member, Tom Mills!

1. Discuss and take appropriate action on the approval of the October 11
minutes.
October 11, 2011 minutes now reflect the suggestion for the TCP and
Aquatics PowerPoint presentations to be taken to Council.
Board Member Hanna motioned to approve the October 11, 2011 minutes
as amended. Board Member McCollister seconded. Motion passed
unanimously.
2. Discuss and provide input concerning a staff update referencing ideas
presented at the recent NRPA conference.
Adam Adams recaps his NRPA training in Atlanta GA. Future ideas for
TC include – outdoor movies in the park, archery program, Gball,
public/private partnerships, environment literacy as P& R moves towards
the “health” industry due to more demands on park system in today’s
economy.
3. Discuss and provide input on a presentation by the Facility Sub-Committee
concerning remaining bond funds.
Remaining Bond Fund for P&R is around $415K. Top facility
subcommittee potential projects rankings and rough cost estimates
include:
• Splash park (Harmony Park) – 100K
• Replace little kids playground (Harmony Park) – 25K
• Tennis Court lights – 30K
• Practice lighting for multi-purpose fields – 75K
• Playground (Indy East Park) – 35K
• Trail Improvements at TCP – 20K
• Fishing pier/study – Amenities Lakes – 35K
• Rec/Community center study – 50K
• Other – bouldering area, security cameras, larger stadium seating
for baseball fields, small gaming area, outdoor movies at the park,
backlighting on poles to partially illuminate new practice fields,
and artificial putting greens are other considerations.
Town Staff will put together firm numbers for these project ideas.
4. Discuss and take appropriate action on the creation of a Special Events
Sub-Committee.
Need for a Chair for the newly established Special Events Sub-
Committee. Work with Sherri Lewis to provide special events input on
purpose, audience, and public “buy in” of TC special events i.e. Let It
Snow Parade on Saturday, December 3rd. Board Member Glenn Hurst
volunteered to be the Chair.

5. Staff and Board Member update and discussion of same for the following
items:
a. Independence East
Baseball field ceremony was deemed a huge success! Texas travel
complimented fields and said they were better quality than other local ball
fields. Texas Travel was impressed and offered $150 per team to rent out
fields. Some minor issues with the fields such as base pegs, schedules,
and bleachers upgraded will be addressed over the next few months.
Note that ball fields will be locked to prep before games.
b. Freedom Dog Park
Rules needed for skate boarders, cameras recently installed, and usage
is better than expected. One documented compliant about an aggressive
dog.
c. TCP
Board Member Mills and Board Member Trotter are working with Police
and Fire Depts. for “emergency” access. Signage needs to be visible, and
properly labeled for easy location. Additional baskets needed for Frisbee
golf, and water fountain was partially donated and will be installed soon.
Reminder of Family Campout at TC Park this Saturday, November 12th,
$10 per family, and check in is from 4pm – 7pm. Story Tellers Guild of
Tarrant County for kid friendly spooky stories, and Girl Scouts to do a
scavenger hunt. Campers head home at 10AM on November 13th.
d. Harmony Park
Fencing up for 30 more days, recommended for new sod to take.
e. Christmas Parade and Celebration
December 3rd. Parade starts at 6pm at Tom Thumb and ends clock
tower. Free goodies include funnel cakes, TC Women’s club serving rice
crispy treats, BARA church serving cookies, Starbucks serving hot drinks,
and Fellowship United Methodist Church serving Egg Nog.
Adjourn
Board Member McCollister made the motion to adjourn at 8:40pm. Seconded by
Board Member Abdulky. Motion passed unanimously.

Board providing two-way communication between the association, the Board and staff as needed.
