PROCLAMATION NO. 2019-03
A PROCLAMATION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS, SUPPORTING THE 2019 MARCH OF DIMES,
MARCH FOR BABIES CAMPAIGN IN TROPHY CLUB; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, 15 million babies in the United States that are born too early; Tarrant
County currently has an average of 10.6% of babies born annually that are preterm or
before 37 weeks; and
WHEREAS, the United States has one of the highest rates of preterm birth and
maternal mortality in comparison to other similarly developed countries; and
WHEREAS, premature birth is the leading cause of infant mortality and babies
who are born premature are more likely to spend many more days in the hospital,
experience long-term intellectual and developmental disabilities, and fight through
health problems potentially into adulthood; and
WHEREAS, the March of Dimes believes that a healthy pregnancy starts with a
healthy mother and a healthy community and is fully committed to decreasing the
number of preterm births so that every baby is given a fighting chance at a healthy start,
and
WHEREAS, funding goes to research, education, advocacy and direct programs
that empower families across North Texas to have the healthiest pregnancy possible for
mom and baby.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, MAYOR C. NICK SANDERS, IN CONJUNCTION WITH
THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS, DO HEREBY
PROCLAIM:
Section 1. Pledging to bring awareness to the citizens of the Town of the health
crisis facing moms and babies through participating in the annual Walk for Babies on
April 13, 2019 and promoting the need at our Kindness Fun Run scheduled for February
23rd, 2019.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the Town Council of the Town of Trophy Club,
Texas, this 12th day of February 2019.
