Council Sub Committee on Council Chambers, Public Art and Decorations/Furnishings for Foyer and/or Council Chambers The committee met 2 times at Town hall since the last Council Meeting and several times informally. At our last meeting that was on site on Thursday, August 17th we walked the building focused on Council Chambers, Council Conference Room, Foyer and Services Waiting Area. A summary of the discussion and recommendations are as follows: 1. Move location of Dedication Plaque to opposite wall from where it was planned to allow for display area for School Art making the Art more visible and providing more room. This wall where we are proposing the plaque be mounted is just outside of the Council Office on the Right Hand wall. 2. Make sure Council Office has the frosted overlays on glass. 3. We reviewed several pictures of benches that would be located in the Foyer / Rotunda along with the Services Waiting area. Council Member Fleury was to meet with Jonathan Phillips to get more pictures. 4. We discussed the idea of having an area in the Council Chambers for pictures that allowed us to take pictures of presentations without having to worry about people and things being in the background. It was decided that an area on the West Wall toward the back would allow us to place the Town of Trophy Club Plaque along with the American Flag and Texas Flag. This would be moving these items from the wall behind the council at the dais to the side. 5. Wall behind Council at Dias was discussed. We reviewed several pictures provided by Councilman Shoffner that just used Letters of the City / Town Name. We will have more examples with Letters at our next council meeting. The full committee liked this better than having the Town Seal and Flags along this wall. 6. On the back wall on each side of the A/V room we felt like we would place pictures of past Council on one side and pictures of past Mayors on the other Side. Holly has been getting pictures from for this display. 7. At this time we plan on getting high quality pictures of scenes around town (high gloss or printed on canvas) mounted around the Council Chambers. We have been collecting pictures form our archive and from Jeff & Lenia Robinson for this purpose. 8. We discussed having an area on the wall in the Services Waiting Area where we displayed historical items. (We are not sure if we will be allowed to use one of the Medlin Barn Doors from Roanoke at this time.) We are collecting these times and will have more ideas at our next meeting. We did discuss having a large current aerial map of the Town on this wall with several older versions. I plan to reach out to the Historical Society of Westlake to explore getting items from them. 9. Council Meeting Room was discussed and the only items specifically we wanted at this time were a current aerial map (not as large as the one in Services Waiting Area) along with a white board that we could capture the contents of the board at one end of the room.
