ORD 1986-01TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS ORDINANCE NO. 0 86-01 AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS, ORDERING AN ELECTION BY THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF SAID TOWN ON THE 5th DAY OF APRIL, 1986 FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING THREE (3) ALDERMEN FOR SAID TOWN. WHEREAS, the term of office for three (3) Aldermen of the Town Council expires on April 5, 1986; and WHEREAS, in accordance with the general laws of the State of Texas, the Town of Trophy Club, shall hold an election for the purpose of electing three (3) Aldermen to the Town Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS: Section 1. That a general election shall be held in and throughout the Town of Trophy Club, Texas, on Saturday, April 5, 1986, for the purpose of electing three (3) Aldermen to the Town Council, the three (3) Aldermen being elected for two (2) year terms. Section 2. That the entire Town shall constitute one (1) election precinct and the election shall be held at the Municipal Utility District Building, 100 Water Plant Road, Trophy Club, Texas, and the following persons who are qualified voters in the Town are hereby appointed officers to conduct said election, to wit: Doris Burrnw Presiding Judge and M'4'r wa„ h Alternate Presiding Judge. The Presiding Judge shall appoint not less than two (2) nor more than six (6) qualified election clerks to serve and assist in the conduct of the election, provided that if the Presiding Judge named actually serves as expected, the Alternate Presiding Judge shall be one (1) of such clerks. By approving and signing this ordinance, the Mayor of the Town of Trophy Club, Texas, officially confirms this appointment of the aforesaid election officers to serve at said election; and by passing this ordinance, the Town Council of said Town approves and concurs in the appointment of the aforesaid election officers. Section 3. That voting at on the date of said election shall be by paper ballot in accordance with the Texas Election Code, as amended, and said ballots shall be printed in accordance with the Texas Election Code, as amended. Section 4. No person may become a candidate for the position of Alderman unless a sworn application is filed with the Town Secretary. The time for filing for office shall begin on January 20, 1986 and end on February 19, 1986 at 5:00 p. m. Section 5. All eligible Town of Blume voters shall cast their ballots at the Municipal Utility District Building, 100 Water Plant Road, Trophy Club, Texas. The polls shall be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on election day. Section 6. As to absentee voting for said election, paper ballots shall be used, and such absentee voting shall be conducted by the Town Secretary, who is hereby appointed the clerk for absentee voting. Absentee voting by personal appearance shall be conducted in the Town Secretary's office, the Municipal Utility District Building, 100 Water Plant Road, Trophy Club, Texas. Absentee voting shall begin on March 17, 1986 and end on April 1, 1986. The clerk shall keep said office open for absentee voting during her regular working hours of each day, except Saturday, Sunday and official State holidays. The absentee ballots for said election shall conform to the requirements of the Texas Election Code, as amended, and in so doing shall permit the voters to vote for three (3) Aldermen, for two (2) year terms. Each elector shall place an "X" in the space provided beside each candidates name that he/she wishes to vote for, provided, however, that no elector shall vote for more than three (3) candidates for Alderman. The Town Council shall designate an absentee ballot board in accordance with the Texas Election Code, as amended, to be composed of the Presiding Election Judge and two (2) other qualified persons to count the absentee ballots. Section 7. The election materials enumerated in the Texas Election Code, as amended, shall be printed in both English and Spanish for use at the polling place and for absentee voting for said election. Section 8. Notice of said election shall be given by publishing the notice at least one (1) time not more than twenty --five (25) days nor less than ten (10) days before the election, in at least one (1) newspaper of general circulation within the Town, and a copy of the notice shall also be filed with the Town Secretary and another copy shall be posted on a bulletin board in the Office of the Town Secretary at least twenty (20) days before the election. The Town Secretary shall secure a Publisher's Affidavit that the notice as provided for herein has been published in the newspaper.
