ORD 1987-02TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS ORDINANCE NO. 0 87-02 AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS, ORDERING AN ELECTION BY THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF SAID TOWN ON THE 4TH DAY OF APRIL, 1987 FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELEC- TING A MAYOR, TOWN MARSHAL AND TWO (2) ALDERMEN FOR SAID TOWN. WHEREAS, the term of office for the Mayor, Town Marshal and two (2) Aldermen expires on April 4, 1987; and WHEREAS, in accordance with the general laws of the State of Texas, the Town of Trophy Club, shall hold an election for the purpose of electing a Mayor, Town Marshal and two (2) Aldermen to the Town Council. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWNi OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS: Section 1. That a general election shall be held in and throughout the Town of Trophy Club, Texas, on Saturday, April 4, 1987, for the purpose of electing a Mayor, Town Marshal and two (2) Aldermen to the Town Council being elected for two (2) year terms. Section 2. That the entire Town shall constitute one (1) election precinct and the election shall be held at the Municipal Utility District Building, 100 Water Plant Road, Trophy Club, Texas, and the following persons who are qualified voters in the Town are hereby appointed officers to conduct said election, to wit: Patricia Blauvelt, Presiding Judge and .Joyce Hawker, Alternate Presiding Judge shall appoint not less than two (2) nor more than six (6) qualified election clerks to serve and assist in the conduct of the election, provided that if the Presiding Judge named actually serves as expected, the Alternate Presiding Judge shall be one (1) of such clerks. By approving and signing this ordinance, the Mayor of the Town of Trophy Club, Texas, officially confirms this appointment of the aforesaid election officers to serve at said election; and by passing this ordinance, the Town Council of said Town approves and concurs in the appointment of the aforesaid election officers. Section 3. That voting on the date of said election shall be made by paper ballot in accordance with the Texas Election Code, as amended, and said ballots shall be printed in accordance with the Texas Election. Code, as amended. Section 4. No person may become a candidate for the position of Mayor, Town Marshal or Alderman unless a sworn application is filed with the Town Secretary. The time for filing for office shall begin on January 19, 1987 and end on February 18, 1987 at 5:00 p.m. Section 5. All eligible Town of Trophy Club voters shall cast their ballots at the Municipal Utility District Building, 100 Water Plant Road, Trophy Club, Texas. The polls shall be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m, on election day. Section b. As to the absentee voting for said election, paper ballots shall be used, and such absentee voting shall be conducted by the Town Secretary, who is hereby appointed the clerk for absentee voting. Absentee voting by personal appearance shall be conducted in the Town Secretary's office, at the Municipal Utilitv District Building, 100 Water Plant Road, Trophy Club, Texas. :absentee voting shall begin on March 16, 1987 and end on March 31, 1987. The clerk shall keep said office open for absentee voting during her regular work hours of each day, except Saturday, Sunday and official State holidays. The absentee ballots for said election shall conform to the requirements of the Teras Election Code, as amended, and in so doing shall permit the voters to vote for Mayor, Town Marshal and two (2) Aldermen, for two (2) year terms. Each elector shall place an "X" in the space provided beside each candidates name that he/she wishes to vote for, provided however, that no elector shall vote for more than one (1) Mayor, one (1) Town Marshal and two (2) Aldermen. The Town Council shall designate an absentee ballot board in accordance with the Texas Election Code, as amended, to be composed of the Presiding Election Judge and two (2) qualified persons to count the absentee ballots. Section 7. The election materials enumerated in the Texas Election Code, as amended, shall be printed in both English and Spanish for use at the polling place and for absentee voting for said election. Section 8. Notice of said election shall be given by publishing the notice at least one (1) time not more than twenty-five (25) days nor less than ten (10) days before the election, in at least one (1) newspaper of general circulation within the Town, and a copy of the notice shall also be filed with the Town Secretary and another copy shall be posted on a bulletin board in the Office of the Town Secretary at least twenty (20) days before the election. The Town Secretary shall secure a Publisher's Affidavit that the notice as provided for herein has been published in the newspaper. PASSED AND APPROVED this 25 day WYnR, f l 7.
