PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD MINUTES
MONDAY, AUGUST 19, 2024; 6:00 P.M.
The Trophy Club Parks and Recreation Board met in a Regular Session on Monday, August 19, 2024. The
meeting was held at Town Hall, 1 Trophy Wood Drive in the Council Chambers.

CALL TO ORDER AND ANNOUNCE A QUORUM
Chairperson Murray called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. and noted a quorum.
PUBLIC COMMENTS
No Public Comments were made.
REGULAR SESSION
1. Department Updates.
Recreation Superintendent Seil provided the board with the following updates:
a. A review of the Summer Adventure Camp Program, including participation statistics and
overviews of various camp activities. Discussion was held on the method of registration to allow
more variation in residents to participate in the future.
b. A review of the Community Pool, including it's Learn -To -Swim program and operational hours
leading into the end of the Summer season.
c. Upcoming Town events include the Dive -In Movie on August 30t" at the Community Pool and Taste
of Trophy Club on September 7t" at Independence Park East.
Director Ellis provided the board with additional updates, including:
d. The replacement of the Trophy Club Park ticket entry machine is scheduled for replacement in
the near future. The development of the integration software has been finished and the project
will be completed with the installation of the new equipment.
e. A National Day of Service event will take place at Trophy Club Park on September 14t". Community

members are encouraged to sign up for the event online at www.trophyclub.org/nods24.
2. Parks Improvement Subcommittee Updates.
Board member Kizer provided the board with the following update from the Parks Improvement
Subcommittee:
a. The Town Council had approved the construction of Option 3 for the Pickleball Project with six
dedicated pickleball courts to be constructed at Harmony Park.
b. The Parks Improvement Subcommittee will shift their focus to the ongoing Community Pool
Renovation Project. The Community Feedback summary conducted by Parkhill will be available
for review in October.
c. The Subcommittee will plan to meet in October to discuss the progress on the Pool Renovation
Project, though a date has not yet been set.
Director Ellis added that the Parks & Recreation Master Plan RFP is currently open and accepting bids. The
presentation will be due by August 30, with a recommendation put before the Town Council in October.
Several board members volunteer to participate in interviews with potential firms. Director Ellis also
commented on the proposed timeline for the Community Pool Renovation project.
3. Discuss and consider approval of the Parks & Recreation Board Meeting minutes dated July 15,
2024, and the Special Parks & Recreation Board Meeting minutes dated July 29, 2024.
Secretary Schrein motioned to approve the Parks & Recreation Board Meeting minutes dated July 15,
2024, and the Special Parks & Recreation Board Meeting minutes dates July 29, 2024. Vice Chairperson
Ferguson seconded the motion. Chairperson Murray called for a vote. The motion passed unanimously (6-
0).
4. Discuss and consider appointment of additional member to the Parks Improvement Sub -
Committee.
Director Ellis opened the floor to the board and asked if they believed a reorganization of the Parks
Improvement Sub -committee was needed to fill the vacant positions on the subcommittee. Director Ellis
also commented that Town Staff would be looking for greater involvement from the Parks Improvement
Subcommittee as the Town begins to balance several, large-scale projects.
The board determined that no change was needed at the moment, and the appointment of the board
members to each sub -committee would be left to a later meeting.
No action was taken.
5. Future Agenda Items
The board requested the following items to be added to a future agenda:
a. Summer Adventure Camp Statistics
b. Review of the responsibilities of the Parks Board to serve as the Tree Board
c. Community Pool Statistics
d. Trophy Club Park Statistics

Board member Kashner motioned to adjourn. Vice Chairperson Ferguson seconded the motion.
Chairperson Murray adjourned the meeting at 6:56 PM.
