Minutes Parks 05/17/2021Parks and Recreation Board Monday, May 17, 2021 Page 1 of 2 TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD MINUTES MONDAY, MAY 17, 2021; 7:00 PM The Trophy Club Parks and Recreation Board met in a Regular Session on Monday , May 17 , 2021 . BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Tiffany Nimphius Chairperson Mindi Bone Vice Chairperson Dean Murray Secretary Tom Bath Board Member Steve Babineaux Board Member BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT: David Stout Board Member Greg Fox Board Member STAFF PRESENT: Tony Jaramillo Director of Parks and Recreation Kaitlin Keller Aquatics and Recreation Specialist CALL TO ORDER AND ANNOUNCE A QUORUM Chairperson Nimphius called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM and noted a quorum with Vice Chairperson Bone, Board Members Murray, Bath, and Babineaux PUBLIC COMMENTS Chairperson Nimphius confirmed there were no speakers registered for Public Comment. REGULAR SESSION Take action regarding the approval of the Parks and Recreation Board minutes dated April 29, 2021. Chairperson Nimphius asked if board members had reviewed the revised minutes from April 29, 2021. Chairperson Nimphius asked if any changes were needed, and none were indicated. Chairperson Nimphius asked for a motion. Board Member Murray moved to approve the minutes dated April 29, 2021, seconded by Board Member Babineaux. Chairperson Nimphius called for a vote. Motion was approved unanimously (5-0). Discuss and provide updates regarding Parks and Recreation projects and ongoing recreational programs and events. (T. Jaramillo) Recreation items discussed (Aquatics and Recreation Specialist) included: 1. New Swim Coaches for 2021 Swim Team have been hired. 2. The Community Pool is scheduled to open May 29, 2021 3. Staff is in the process of searching for a Water Aerobics Instructor to offer a new program at the Community Pool. 4. Seasonal positions will be posted during the week. 5. The Summer Adventure Camp full. Parks and Recreation Board Monday, May 17, 2021 Page 2 of 2 Park items discussed (Director Jaramillo) included: 1. Staff has hosted various baseball tournaments at Independence Park since January 2021 and have received just under $30,000 in revenue. 2. Staff has worked the concession facilities at Independence Park East and West. 3. Reminded the Board about the Mountain Bike Trail at Trophy Club Park 4. Publicly thanked Aquatics and Recreation Specialist, Kaitlin Keller for a phenomenal job certifying various lifeguards and water safety instructors. 5. All Capital Replacement Items such as mowers and work vehicle have been replaced this fiscal year. 6. Staff is in the planning stages to revamp our current Community Events. 7. Mentioned new volunteer, Mr. Patrick Shrien and his interest in assisting with Trophy Club Park. 8. Staff is in the planning stages of a Clean-up Day at Trophy Club Park; inviting various groups to clean various areas of the park. 9. Staff continues to work on Sports Agreements. Board Member Bath inquired about status of the Pickle Ball Court Project. Director Jaramillo mentioned providing an update to Town Council a month ago. Director Jaramillo continues to work with the consultant assisting with the project and will provide Council with a final recommendation. Chairperson Nimphius inquired about creating an account for the funds received from the baseball tournaments and making a recommendation for the funds to go into Parks. Chairperson Nimphius requested for this topic to be an agenda item at the next meeting.
