PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD MINUTES
MONDAY, JULY 19, 2021; 7:00 PM
The Trophy Club Parks and Recreation Board met in a Regular Session on Monday, July 19, 2021.

CALL TO ORDER AND ANNOUNCE A QUORUM
Chairperson Nimphius called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM and noted a quorum with Vice Chairperson Bone, Board
Members Bath, Babineaux, Fox, and Stout
PUBLIC COMMENTS
Chairperson Nimphius confirmed there were no speakers registered for Public Comment.
REGULAR SESSION
Consider and take action regarding the approval of the Parks and Recreation Board minutes dated
May 17, 2021.
Chairperson Nimphius asked if board members had reviewed the minutes from May 17, 2021.
Chairperson Nimphius asked if any changes were needed, and none were indicated.
Chairperson Nimphius asked for a motion. Chairperson Bone moved to approve the minutes
dated July 19, 2021, seconded by Board r
ember Fox.
Chairperson Nimphius called for a vote. Motion was approved unanimously (6-0).
Discuss and provide updates regarding projects at Town Parks and ongoing recreational programs/events.

Park items discussed (Parks and Recreation, Director Jaramillo) included:
1. The Baseball Tournament that was scheduled June 25 — 30 was canceled approximately halfway through the
tournament because of inclement weather. Approximately $10,000 was generated from games and approximately
$5,000 was generated from concession sales by the Town.
2. A free Disc Golf Clinic will be hosted at Trophy Club Park on a Saturday in August 2021.
3. Staff continues to treat the trees that were damaged from the February 2021 winter storm.

4. Staff provided the revised Sports Agreements to the Council Sports Subcommittee and have tentative meetings
dates scheduled with the Council Sports Subcommittee and Sports Associations.
Vice Chair Bone asked how not having the sports agreements completed would affect the fall
season, Director Jaramillo responded and said that staff will wait until after the fall season before
moving forward with the revised sports agreements as the sports league registrations had begun.
Recreation items discussed (Recreation Superintendent, Haye) included:
1. Trophy Club Tritons Swim Team were headed to state the following weekend.
2. Swim Lessons final session for the season with 225 participants for the season.
3. 570 Summer Camp enrollments were received this season.
4. Staff will begin to offer Water Aerobics at the Community Pool this season.
5. Staff hosted Goat Yoga at Independence Park East on June 20, 2021; and had a great turnout with
30 participants.
Discuss and provide updates regarding Trophy Club Park.
Recreation Superintendent Haye introduced Mr. Patrick Shrein as a Trophy Club Park Volunteer. Mr.
Schrein expressed his passion for Trophy Club Park, specifically the off -road trails. Mr. Shrein
mentioned how grateful he was for the opportunity and demonstrated various slides with pictures on
the trail improvements and mentioned that he worked with Director Jaramillo and Recreation Haye on
a strategic plan for Trophy Club Park.
Director Jaramillo informed the Board that he applied for a grant to assist with removing the existing
debris at Trophy Club Park. Director Jaramillo continued by saying that the grant was 100 percent
reimbursable and is waiting for final approval.
Director Jaramillo provided an update on the 20214t" of July event.
1. 512 registrations were received for the Patriot Fun Run.
2. 43 registrations were received for the Parade of Patriots with approximately 70 participants.
3. Approximately 5000 plus were in attendance for the 4t^ of July Celebration. Director Jaramillo
stated that he believed records were broken for all three events.
4. Director Jaramillo stated that approximately $18,000 was received in sponsorship donations.
Chairperson Nimphius made the announcement of stepping down from the Parks and Recreation Board
because she felt that the town took a turn for the worst after the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tern took
office. Chairperson Nimphius continued and stated that the way volunteers are treated has an effect
on what happens. Chairperson Nimphius apologized and stated that she was stepping down.
Board Member Stout stated that he was stepping down from the Parks and Recreation Board. Board
Member Stout continued by stating he enjoyed working with the town and the Board. Board Member
Stout stated that the primary reason he was stepping down was because he was moving. However,
Board Member stout stated he was disappointed because of the disconnect between volunteers and
the town.

Vice Chairperson Bone expressed how much she has enjoyed working alongside Chairperson Nimphius
and Board Member Stout. Vice Chairperson Bone stated that since the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tern took
office it seemed to be difficult to get anything accomplished and therefore was resigning her position
on the Parks and Recreation Board.
Board Member Bath inquired about the status of the Pickle Ball Court Installation Project. Director Jaramillo mentioned
an update was provided to Town Council and suggested putting the project on a temporary hold until NISD installed
their new tennis courts at Medlin Middle School as they were going to be available to the public. Director Jaramillo
continued and stated that he wanted to wait to see how the new Medlin Tennis Courts would affect the usage at the
Towns Tennis/Pickleball Courts before funds were spent on new Pickleball Courts.
