A PROCLAMATION OF THE TROPHY CLUB TOWN COUNCIL RECOGNIZING THE
WEEK OF MAY 9—15, 2021 AS POLICE WEEK IN TROPHY CLUB, IN CONJUNCTION
WITH NATIONAL POLICE WEEK, AND RECOGNIZING MAY 15, 2021 AS PEACE
OFFICERS' MEMORIAL DAY IN TROPHY CLUB.
WHEREAS, there are more than 800,000 Law Enforcement Officers serving in communities
across the United States, which includes the dedicated members of the Town of Trophy Club; and
WHEREAS, since the first recorded death in 1791, more than 21,000 law enforcement officers in
the United States have made the ultimate sacrifice and been killed in the line of duty; and
WHEREAS, the names of these dedicated public servants are engraved on the walls of the
National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC; and
WHEREAS, 394 new names of fallen heroes are being added to the National Law Enforcement
Officers Memorial this Spring, including 295 officers killed in 2020; and
WHEREAS, the service and sacrifice of all officers killed in the line of duty will be honored during
the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial's 33rd Annual Candlelight Vigil, on the evening of May
13, 2021; and
WHEREAS, May 15, 2021 has been designated as Peace Officers' Memorial Day, in honor of all
fallen officers and their families and U.S. Flags will be flown at half-staff.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, MAYOR ALICIA L. FLEURY, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE TROPHY
CLUB TOWN COUNCIL DO HEREBY PROCLAIM:
"May 9 - May 15, 2021 as Police Week"
And
"May 15, 2021 as Peace Officers' Memorial Day"
