MEETING FOR THE TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB

The Parks & Recreation Board of the Town of Trophy Club, Texas, met in a Regular Session on
Monday, October 20, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held within the boundaries of the
Town and was open to the public.

Call to order and announce a quorum.
Chairman Hanna called the meeting to order at 7:06 p.m. noting a quorum was present.
REGULAR SESSION
Citizen Presentations:
1. Welcome new Board Members
Darin Davis, David Stout, Julie Foley
2. Discuss and provide a recommendation to Town Council concerning an appeal to
the Tree Mitigation Ordinance as it relates to the Trophy Club Commons
development located at 925 Trophy Club Drive.
Director Adams gave bried history regarding 925 Trophy Club Drive. Developer offered
to give long-term renewable lease for soccer fields, parking access during off hours, and
giving the Town approximately $25000 to plant addition trees/plants around town. Staff
recommends that Town accept the developers offer. Board member Arata made a
motion to approve the offer. Board member Hocker seconded the motion. The motion
passed unanimously.
3. Discuss and take appropriate action on the appointment of the following Board
Officer postions:
a. Chair
Board member Arata made a motion for Haley Little. Chairman Hanna seconded
the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
b. Vice -Chair
Board member Little made a motion to keep Vice Chairman Abulky. Board
member Arata seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
c. Secretary
Board member Little made a motion for Julie Foley. Board member Mills
seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
4. Discuss and provide direction concerning the creation and implementation of a
community garden to be located within Harmony Park.
Director Adam is looking to create partnership with various town groups where the Town
would assist with irrigation and setting up infrastructure (no later than the end of 2014).
Bonnie Saraphine gave brief history of how garden idea evolved and how she began
working with the local girl scouts to get the project started. Berna Sennelly spoke on
behalf of Keep Trophy Club Wild, Inc. and shared the vision that KTCW has for the
garden. Ms. Sennelly believes KTCW will bring structure, expertise, and coordination to
the garden project. Lori Hicks (and scouts) spoke on behalf of the girl scouts to share
their vision for the garden. Logistics concerning cost of plots and what to do with
produce will be determined at a future date; possibly funnel money through KTCW. The
Board requested that town staff get quotes on typical costs associated with the garden;
Board member Arata suggested forming a sub -committee for this purpose. Board
member Foley mentioned the creation of a "garden" page on Facebook and she will
chair the sub -committee. Director Adams said that he will represent the Town as the
liaison for this project.
5. Staff/Board update on the following items; discussion of same.
Board Chairman Hanna made a motion to table this item until the next meeting.
a. Independence Park
Director Adams let the Board know that council will be reviewing Royal Troon
items in late November.
b. Freedom Park/Dino Playground
Grand opening will be in November.
c. Trophy Club Park
Several events coming to the park: Garden Tour, Reptile class, Fall Fest, Fall
Family Campout, Introduction to Astronomy, Movie Night, Disc Golf Tournament,
Scout Days.
d. 2014 Swim Season
Jacob Lohse gave a presentation on the 2014 season.
e. Upcoming Classes and Events
Bocce Ball begins on November 1. Tyler Rose Festival was cancelled due to low
enrollment. Christmas Celebration will be held on December 6 at the clock
tower.
6. Future Items
Board member Foley would like to discuss a library
Adjourn
Board member Arata made a motion to dismiss the meeting at approximately
32 p.m. and member ills seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
