The Parks and Recreation Board of the Town of Trophy Club, Texas, met in a Regular Session
on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held within the boundaries of the
Town and was open to the public.

Call to order and announce a quorum.
Chairwoman Nimphius called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. noting a quorum was
present.
CITIZEN PRESENTATIONS: There were no citizen presentations.
REGULAR SESSION
1. Consider and take appropriate action regarding the approval of the Parks and
Recreation Board Minutes dated October 16, 2017.
Chairwoman Nimphius made a motion to approve the October 16, 2017 minutes. Board
Secretary Murray seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
2. Discuss and provide update regarding ongoing projects at Town Parks.
A. Harmony Park
Director Jaramillo provided the following information:
Staff is currently working with contractors in order to obtain quotes to replace the
roof on the concession/restroom facility. Researching the possibility of applying
for Musco light installation grant for fields adjacent to Indian Creek; which would
relieve traffic at Lakeview Park. Director Jaramillo spoke with Matt Tibbets and
mentioned that GNSWA is interested in painting and upgrading various
components inside the concession.
B. Independence Park
Director Jaramillo mentioned the restrooms renovations at west were scheduled
to begin on December 4 and completed by mid-January, Kickball and baseball
season was over; parks staff applied 40 tons of clay on all baseball fields' clay
area with a goal in mind of not having to close the fields when receiving 3/4 inch of
rain or less. Board Member asked Director Jaramillo if the conditioner is
purchased by bulk or by the pallet, Director Jaramillo responded that the
conditioner was purchased by the bulk and keep some in stock for future use.
C. Miscellaneous update
Staff began to install Christmas decorations; started installing the tree at the
roundabout. Vice Chairwoman Bone asked if the blue wreaths were going to be
removed, Director Jaramillo responded; mentioned the staff would remove them
and install the Christmas wreaths in their place. Director Jaramillo suggested
forming a Freedom Dog Park subcommittee in order to discuss the possibility of
installing a key fob system. Chairwoman Nimphius suggested forming the
subcommittee at during the meeting. Chairwoman Nimphius, Board Member
Stout and Board Member and Morace were appointed. Council Member Shoffner
mentioned the Council wants a complete understanding of the problem, and that
Parks and Recreation had to take the lead on the key fob system as this pertains
to a park. Secretary Murray mentioned getting Chief Arata before going too far
with the project.
3. Discuss and provide update regarding Recreation Programs/Events.
Recreation Superintendent Blase provided the following update:
- Off season pool cleaning continues, Family campout was a success with a
great turnout according to catering numbers. Keep Trophy Club Wild
volunteered and offered Archery lessons.
4. Discuss and provide Council recommendation on naming the concrete trail that
runs through the Highlands.
- Director Jaramillo recommended renaming the trail and making a
recommendation to Council. The Board will make a recommendation to
Council to rename Bobcat trail in Trophy Club Park to White Tail Trail and
naming the concrete trail to Bobcat trail.
5. Discuss and provide Council recommendation on providing various reading
locations in Town.
Chairwoman Nimphius suggested installing a bench instead. Director
Jaramillo suggested creating reading areas for example on the empty lot on
Rose Bay Court. Director Jaramillo also suggested creating reading stations
made out of plexi glass along the concrete trail and having to read a book as
you walk the entire trail. Board Member Stout mentioned that Great Blue
Heron trail should be relocated as a portion of it is too close to residential

property. Council Member Shoffner recommended discussing the trail at the
next Parks and Recreation Board meeting.
Adjourn
Vice Chairwoman Bone made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:50 p.m. Board Member
Farrell seconded e motion. The motion passed unanimously.
