Special Session Joint Meeting with Town Council
1. Discussion with Town Council regarding the Board's CCPD Budget for Fiscal Year 2015-2015:
Chief Patrick Arata provided a summary of the Current Fiscal Year 2014-2015 Budget. Chief advised
that the CCPD Board will be meeting on June 3, 2015 to discuss both the Budget for Fiscal Year 2015-
2015, as well as the remaining $75,000 Fiscal Year 2014-2015 Budget, at which time issues such as the
purchase of one new vehicle for this year, as well as uniforms, vests, next -generation body cameras (to
replace first generation body cameras), weapons, and possibly a future K-9 knit will be considered.
Chief further explained that out of an approximately $180,000 CCPD Budget for the Fiscal Year 2015-
2016, the CCPD's goal would be a proposal for purchase of an additional new vehicle, and to buy or
replace small equipment, uniforms, vests, next -generation body cameras and weapons.
Approximately $30,000 would be moved to fund an IT budget for additional IT personnel and
equipment to assist with the growing IT needs of the Police Department.
The balance of the Fiscal Year 2015-2016 funding would be applied to the new Police Department
Building, as well as furnishings and equipment for the new building.
Town Manager, Stephen Seidel advised that a replacement policy is being prepared for management
of all current and future Police Department vehicles (a 5 year/100,000 mile program to include the
new vehicle for the 2014-2015 Budget), as well as a replacement policy for other Police Department
equipment. Additionally, Stephen Seidel reiterated that it is anticipated there will be approximately
$7.80,000 - $188,400 available for CCPD to apply to the new building and equipment, as well as many
of the Police Department needs addressed by Chief Arata.
Town Council and the CCPD Board discussed the various options for the CCPD Budget for the
remainder of Fisca# Year 2014-2015 and for Fiscal Year 2015-2016. At the upcoming June 3, 2015
meeting, the CCPD Board will be discussing and establishing the goals and needs and priorities of the
CCPD and the Police Department for the next two years. A Public Hearing will then be scheduled in
June, followed by a CCPD Meeting in July for adoption of the new Budget for Fiscal Year 2015-2016 for
