Minutes Parks 01/16/2017 MINUTES OF A REGULAR PARKS & RECREATION BOARD MEETING FOR THE TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB TOWN OF LOCATION: 100 MUNICIPAL DRIVE, TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS TROPHY CLUB Monday, January 16, 201 7:00 P.M. 7 STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF DENTON § The Parks & Recreation Board of the Town of Trophy Club, Texas, met in a Regular Session on Monday, January 16, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held within the boundaries of the Town and was open to the public. PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT Tiffany Nimphius Chair Mindi Bone Vice Chair Kim Farrell Board Member Jacob Gibson Board Member Earl Bilbrey Board Member PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT Dean Murray Secretary Darin Davis Board Member STAFF AND GUEST(S) PRESENT Adam Adams Parks & Recreation Director Kelly Darling Recreation Coordinator Call to order and announce a quorum. Chairwoman Nimphius called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. noting a quorum was present. REGULAR SESSION Citizen Presentations: 1. Discuss and take appropriate action on the approval of the November 21, 2016 minutes. Board Member Farrell made a motion to approve the November 21, 2016 minutes. Board Member Bilbrey seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. 2. Discuss and take appropriate action on the approval of the December 5, 2016 minutes. Board Member Farrell made a motion to approve the December 5, 2016 minutes. Board Member Bilbrey seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. 3. Staff/Board Updates on the following items; discussion of same. 1. Park Signage Director Adam Adams stated that Town Council liked the new parks signage recommendations given to them by Parks Board. Signage will be approved once the new Town Manager is settled in and a Trophy Club signage committee is established. 2. Harmony Park The Harmony Park parking lot is halfway done. Construction on the storage area will resume on January 18, 2017. 3. Independence Park Veteran's Memorial is half way done and should be completed by late spring. Parks Board voted on the color blue for the new shade structure that will be put in over the Independence West playground. 4. Linear Trail The Linear Trail project is a continual one that will be in progress over the next couple of years. 5. Trophy Club Park FEMA funded park cleanup will take place in the next couple of weeks. The park will be shut down, including the motocross trails, while it takes place. 6. Future events/programs Recreation Coordinator Kelly Darling went over the following items: • Back to Nature and Spring Family Campout, March 18 • Spring Kickball League, March 22 • Babysitting Certification Class, March 25 & May 6 • Spring Bocce Ball League, April 1 • Eggstravaganza, April 8 • Kite Fest, April 29 • A Sip of Summer, May 26 • Summer Adventure Camp, May 30—August 12 (11 weeks) • Swimsuits and Storytime, June 9, June 23, July 7, and July 21 • Dad's Day Out, June 17 • World's Largest Swim Lesson, June 22 • Christmas in July, July 15 • Back to School Bash, August 19 • Pet Fest, September 16 • Fall Festival, October 14 • Fall Family Campout, November 11 • Letters to Santa, November 13—December 15 • Christmas in the Park, December 2 • Operation Give Back, December 11 — 15 • Gingerbread House Making, December 15 7. Community Challenge Chairwoman Nimphius asked fellow board members to reach out to local businesses and organizations to sign up for the Community Challenge. Town of Trophy Club is currently in third place. 4. Discuss and take appropriate action on members of the Board becoming part of the Mayor's Health and Fitness Council as part of the Community Challenge. Parks Board agreed to be a part of the Mayor's Health and Fitness Council. At least three people must attend the Mayor sanctioned Community Challenge events and be take a picture of them being involved.
