Animal Shelter Board meeting 9/17/14
Agenda Item:
Discuss and take appropriate action regarding the new ordinance for staggered Board positions.
Explanation:
Council approved Ordinance 2014-24 on August 26, 2014. This ordinance set Animal Shelter Board
member terms at 3 years each beginning October 1, 2014 and staggered the terms leaving two positions
(Veterinarian and Town representative) to expire in one year, two positions (ACO and Animal Advocacy
position) to expire in two years, and two positions (Town advocacy positions) to expire in three years.

Animal Shelter Board Meeting 9/17/14
Agenda Item:
Discuss and take appropriate action regarding a revised Schedule of Fees for the Animal Shelter for
recommendation to Council.
Explanation:
The schedule of fees for animal control services was changed from the schedule currently shown on the
web site. Transport fees are $30 and shelter fees are $10 per day. There was Council discussion last
year regarding increasing the once-in-a-lifetime $5 registration fee to an annual fee and the Council
recommended that the Animal Shelter Board discuss it and make a recommendation.

Staff recommends that the Board give direction to staff regarding research issues and information that
might be needed to develop a recommended course of action.
